Difference between lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries used in golf carts

I. Golf cart lithium battery Lithium iron phosphate batteries(LiFePO₄ )Recommended golf cart
1、Positive electrode:
Lithium iron phosphate, cobalt and nickel free;
2、Safety performance:
Extremely thermally stable, resistant to puncture and high temperatures, unlikely to catch fire or explode, waterproof and sun-resistant, ideal for outdoor parking on sports fields.
3、Operating temperature:
It is relatively heat-resistant, and can operate normally after exposure to sunlight at 60℃; its capacity decreases slightly at low temperatures of -10℃.
4、Cycle life:
3000-6000 times, normal use for 8-10 years.
5、Energy density:
Low, larger and heavier for the same capacity.
6、Discharge platform:
Stable voltage and minimal loss of climbing power.
7、Deep discharge:
Supports 80%–90% deep discharge, and is not easily damaged by frequent power depletion.
8、Applicable Scenarios:
Golf carts, sightseeing vehicles, low-speed electric vehicles, energy storage.
II. Golf cart lithium battery ternary lithium battery(Not recommended for the stadium)
1、Positive electrode:
Positive electrode: Nickel-cobalt-manganese ternary material, containing precious metals cobalt and nickel.
2、Safety performance:
High temperatures can easily lead to thermal runaway, punctures can easily cause fires, exposure to the summer sun poses a high risk, and outdoor sports fields present significant hazards.
3、Operating temperature:
It performs well at low temperatures but poorly at high temperatures, making it prone to overheating in outdoor stadiums during summer.
4、Cycle life:
1500-2500 times, capacity significantly decreases over 3-5 years.
5、Energy density:
High energy density, smaller size, and lighter weight.
6、Discharge platform:
The voltage drop is large, and the power reduction during heavy-load hill climbing is obvious.
7、Deep discharge:
Not suitable for deep discharge; depleting the battery significantly shortens its lifespan.
8、Applicable Scenarios:
New energy passenger vehicles, small portable devices, and vehicles for short-distance travel in cold regions.
